Ready to Read
North Shelby Library would like to invite you to attend a new pilot program for 2.5 - 5 year olds called Ready to Read.
It is a program designed to teach parents/caregivers how to get their kids to be readers.
Meet: Friday mornings @ 9:30am June 8th, 15th, 22nd & 29th.
Limited to 10 families. Signup in the Children's Department or call 205.439.5504 to reserve your spot in this new and exciting program.
The first meeting will be a parent/caregiver workshop that will last approximately 2 hours. The following 3 workshops will be held with parents/caregivers and their children and will last approximately 1.5 hours. You must commit to be present at each of the 4 workshops. During the workshops you will learn techniques to use with your child to give them the skills they will need to become readers. Activities you will be participating in will be singing, playing with puppets, listening to stories, having snacks and learning about early literacy.
At the end of the program, each child will be awarded a certificate and an age appropriate book.
