All Classes are FREE and are on:
Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8:30am - 10:00am.

Overview of Classes
Computer Comfort I
An Introductory class to familiarize yourself with the computer and various basic functions. We will be covering the computer components and Windows navigation.
Computer Comfort II
A continuation of Computer Comfort I. We will cover more windows navigation including file management, and go over any other concerns you may have when working with your computer. You must have completed Computer Comfort I to attend.
Internet for Beginners
The basics of navigating the Internet for those with little to no experience
Email for Beginners I
Create a Yahoo! Email Account, sending messages, checking your email, replying to messages, using Yahoo! Help. Time permitting, we will also cover Folders, Saving Dravts, Contacts/Address Book, Attachments (viewing and downloading), Calendar and Notepad functions.
Intro to Word I
An introduction to the word processing program, Microsoft Word. Learn how to create a simple document, edit and format text, correct spelling errors, and adjust the margins. We will also cover how to save, print and open files.
Intro to Word II
Covers newspaper columns, page borders, inserting page breaks, section breaks, page numbers, creating a bulleted or numbered list, creating and formatting tables.
Word Workshop
You will be given an assignment to complete, work on your own project and ask any questions you may have.
Intro to Excel I
Introduction to Microsoft Excel. This class will cover entering text and numbers, formatting text and performing mathematical calculations.
Intro to Excel II
This class builds upon worksheet formatting and working with multiple sheets and charts.
Excel Workshop
You will be given an assignment to complete, work on your own project and con ask any questions you may have.
PowerPoint
An introduction to the presentation program, Microsoft PowerPoint 2000. Learn how to create a simple presentation, create and edit slides, insert clipart, aply designs, work with views, and run the slide show. We will also cover how to save, print and open presentations.
Intro to Publisher I
This is an introduction to Microsoft Publisher a desktop publishing application used to create flyers, newsletters, brochures, cards and websites. We will learn the basic features of this application while we create and edit several different publications.
Intro to Publisher II
This class will be a continuation of Publisher I and we will continue working on a publication covering the formatting of text, indentions and tabs, the use of graphics, editing techniques and printing.
Intro to Publisher III
This class will build on Publisher II and we will continue working
on our publication(s) and go over any questions you may have.
Advanced Searching
Access reference resources, academic journals, magazines online through the Alabama Virtual Library, as well as explore some online reference sites and other databases available throught the Shelby County Library System.
Super Google
Explore the Advanced Search options within Google to refine and get better results than a basic search.
Laptop Users Group (LUG)
The following classes are designed for new to intermediate users wanting to enhance basic computer skills. Wireless laptops ARE REQUIRED. This will be a very loose class in which we will discuss any questions you may have regarding your laptop and/or software.
LUG - Flickr
This is an introductory class to Flickr, a popular photo-sharing and hosting service with advanced and powerful features. Together we will create a Flickr account for you to post your pictures to so that you and your loved ones OR the whole world can see them. Please have digital pictures on your laptop or on a disk that we can use to upload to your new Flickr account. Wireless laptops ARE REQUIRED
LUG - Introduction to Social Media
This class will introduce you to popular social media being used today for both personal and professional use. We will touch on Flickr, Blogging, using Facebook, Twitter and cover any others you may have questions about. Wireless laptops ARE REQUIRED
